Regional Language Preservation Activities in Mi Ma'arif Nu Kedungwringin

Education is one of the pathways that can be used in the preservation of regional languages. Regional languages, especially for students at the elementary school level, can strengthen language learning. In Regional Language subjects in several schools, one of which is MI Ma'arif NU Kedungwringin, Patikraja Bayumas, there are students who do not master the regional language, namely Banyumasan. Of course this hinders the learning process where the teacher must explain in two languages, namely Indonesian and Banyumasan language. The purpose of this study was to determine the activities carried out at MI Ma'arif Nu Kedungwringin in maintaining the regional language, namely Banyumasan language. This research included qualitative research using interview, observation and documentation techniques to obtain various information about regional language retention in MI Ma'arif NU Kedungwringin. The results showed that the preservation of regional languages carried out at MI Ma'arif NU Kedungwringin was 1) MI Ma'arif NU Kedungwringin held a 1-day cultural activity, namely every Thursday to use the regional language, namely Banyumasan as a compulsory language for students, teachers and educators. 2) Regional Language subjects also use Banyumasan language books or modules as reading and writing literacy materials to support regional language retention. 3) Strengthening and socializing with parents of students about the importance of maintaining regional languages through parenting activities in the MI Ma'arif NU Kedungwringin Student Parents Association. 4) Performing various Banyumas cultural arts that are typical of Banyumasan dialect.
