Abstract

Due to rapid depletion of fossil fuel, the demand for alternative fuel is increasing day by day. The fossil fuel are causing serious environmental problem caused by diesel emission. Since industrial revolution, major industrial growth and transportation relay heavily on conventional energy resources which is rising major concerns related to air pollution, climate change and energy security have encouraged scientist and researchers to explore cleaner and renewable fuels alternative including bio fuel. Among various bio fuel source there is micro algae based bio-diesel, which has gained significant attention due to its high yield and several advantages. Chlorella vulgaris is best micro algae because it has 20-50% of liquid and easy to cultivate which creates high bio mass yield. Micro algae can be grown using wastewater and have high ability to reduce CO2, which helps in reducing environmental pollution, greenhouse gas emissions ultimately leading to environmental sustainability. In spite of these advantages micro algae bio diesel still faces several challenges like high production cost, difficulty in scaling cultivation system. To overcome these problems we can develop genetic engineering approaches using carbon captures strategies, which will increase efficiency while lowering environmental impact. In conclusion, chlorella vulgaris shows high and strong potential in the world of micro algae based bio diesel as sustainable and renewable energy resources.
