Harmony In Diversity: The Meaning of Entrepreneurship for Students From Various Social Backgrounds (Case Study at Sunniyyah Selo Islamic College of Grobogan, Central Java, Indonesia)

Indonesia's cultural diversity is a strength that presents potential conflicts, requiring a resilient and adaptive young generation to face various challenges and opportunities. At Sunniyyah Selo Islamic College of Grobogan, entrepreneurship is promoted as a key to achieving financial independence, fostering creativity, and developing practical skills among students from diverse social backgrounds. This research aims to identify the meaning of entrepreneurship for students from various social backgrounds at the Sunniyyah Selo Islamic College of Grobogan, with multiple perspectives and implications of entrepreneurship in various contexts. The analysis was carried out using a qualitative descriptive analysis method. The results of this research show several key findings regarding entrepreneurship among students. Students from different social backgrounds have varying views about entrepreneurship, which are influenced by their experiences, resources, and cultural context. Social background significantly shapes students' perspectives and motivation toward entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship allows students to apply their academic knowledge practically and develop important skills that encourage creativity and innovation, reflecting Giddens' structuration theory which states that individual actions influence and change social structures. Inclusivity and collaboration are promoted through entrepreneurial activities involving students from diverse backgrounds, which increases social capital and access to resources, in line with Bourdieu's theory. Additionally, successful student entrepreneurs act as agents of change in their communities, by Weber's theory of social change, and contribute to the improvement of the broader society. Educational institutions play a role in fostering entrepreneurship by offering opportunities for observation, experiential learning, and mentoring, which supports students' entrepreneurial development by Bandura's Social Learning Theory.
