Development of a Project-Based Learning Model for Pantun Writing Materials for Seventh-Grade Junior High School Students

Abstract

This study was conducted to explore and evaluate the effectiveness of a project-based learning model to enhance the pantun (traditional rhyming poetry) writing skills of seventh-grade junior high school students. The selection of this topic stems from the influence of external cultures, especially those from the West and Korea, on millennials. The researcher is concerned that the pantun tradition, which is a cultural heritage of many ethnic groups in Indonesia, is at risk of extinction. To rekindle and refine students' ability to compose pantun, the researcher utilized a project-based learning model in the instructional process. This model is particularly suitable for the current era, as it engages students in exploration, assessment, interpretation, and creative expression to produce various forms of pantun. The process is carried out under the guidance of teachers. The researcher employed the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) in teaching pantun. Through this learning model, students engage in practical, real-world projects that are relevant to their daily lives, enabling them to develop skills and knowledge that can be applied in real-world contexts.
