Genetically Modified Foods, Consumer Perception, Food LabelingAbstract
Consumer perception of genetically modified (GM) foods remains a critical factor influencing market acceptance and regulatory policies. This study explores public awareness, attitudes, and concerns regarding GM ingredients in commercial food products. Using a descriptive research design, we surveyed 107 participants to analyze their knowledge, safety concerns, perceived benefits, and purchasing behavior. Findings highlight the deep divide in consumer opinions, shaped by demographics, sources of information, and personal values. While some recognize the benefits of GM foods such as enhanced nutrition and increased food production - many express concerns over health risks, environmental impact, and corporate influence. The study underscores the growing demand for transparency through clear labeling, public education, and stakeholder engagement to foster informed choices and consumer trust. By providing actionable insights, this research offers valuable guidance for food producers, policymakers, and regulators to bridge the gap between scientific advancements and consumer expectations in the evolving food landscape.
